Blu-Ray Cover Art
adult swim's The Venture Bros. is a new obsession of mine. After buying each season on DVD and Blu-ray, it nagged at me that season 4 was the only release to not have a nice slipcover. I decided to try my hand at designing one.
Above is the current work in progress, based on the Season 4, Volume 1 DVD case. Below is an earlier version, based on Volume 2.
In most instances, the artwork I'm using isn't big enough to allow for sufficient bleed areas. Photoshop's Content Aware tool helped a great deal in this regard. And yes, I even took the time to recreate all of the regulatory information that no one reads at the bottom of the back cover.
Below is another work in progress: custom cover art, based on the Rusty Venture lunchbox mentioned in the show.
This is a work in progress for a movie I own that also never had a slipcover. It's the most common design, based on a template provided by Disney for their printable Solo: A Star Wars Story Blu-ray slipcover. The art extends past what would be the spines to act as tabs to glue or tape what would be the back cover. When completed, one can slip in a standard size Blu-ray case from the top or bottom. The Venture Bros. slipcover, on the other hand, is a little more complicated. It's the kind of slipcover that opens from the side, which requires more folding.
Either of these can be broken up to print on two standard size sheets of paper, similar to but for the most authentic look and feel, it needs to go on full ledger size paper.
